Bandipur National Park, an 874-sq.-km forested reserve in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, is known for its small population of tigers. Once the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Mysore, the park also harbors Indian elephants, spotted deer, gaurs (bison), antelopes and numerous other native species. The 14th-century Himavad Gopalaswamy Temple offers views from the park's highest peak. Bandipur National Park is renowned for its tiger population and is considered one of the best places to spot tigers in South India. Apart from tigers, the park is home to other significant species such as Indian elephants, gaurs (Indian bison), sloth bears, leopards, dholes (Indian wild dogs), sambar deer, chital (spotted deer), and numerous bird species.Bandipur National Park also offers opportunities for birdwatching, as it boasts a diverse avian population. Several species of resident and migratory birds can be spotted here, including the Malabar pied hornbill, Indian roller, painted stork, crested serpent eagle, and many more.The best time to visit Bandipur National Park is during the dry season, which extends from October to May, as the vegetation is less dense, making it easier to spot wildlife. The park remains closed during the monsoon season, usually from June to September, due to heavy rainfall and potential risks.Bandipur National Park offers a captivating wildlife experience with its lush forests, varied fauna, and the opportunity to spot iconic species like tigers and elephants. The Kabini Forest Reserve is one of the most popular wildlife destinations of Karnataka, probably because of its accessibility, lush green landscape surrounding a large lake, and sightings of herds of elephants, tigers. It is 61 km away from Mysuru and 205 km from Bengaluru, and comprises the south-eastern part of Nagarahole National Park. Situated on the banks of the kabini River, the reserve is spread over 55 acres of forestland, steep valleys, and water bodies. Once a private hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Mysore. Now it is considered to be one of the best Wildlife National Parks in India, famous for its spectacular wildlife and bird life. There are around 120 tigers, 100+ leopards, four types of deer, Sloth bear, Indian Gaurs and elephants in the Nagarahole National Park.Boat safaris along the Kabini River offer a unique opportunity to spot elephants, gaur, deer, and several bird species, including water birds like the pied kingfisher, painted stork, and the elusive osprey. The surrounding forests provide ample opportunities for jeep safaris, where visitors can search for tigers, leopards, and other wildlife species.

Nagarhole National Park, also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, is a wildlife reserve in the South Indian state of Karnataka. Part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, the park is backed by the Brahamagiri Mountains and filled with sandalwood and teak trees. The Kabini River winds through jungle landscapes, home to tigers, Asian elephants and a variety of birds. Nearby, the Irupu Falls cascade down tree-lined rocks. The park is known for its thriving population of elephants, and it is estimated to have one of the highest densities of Asian elephants in the world. Nagarhole is also home to other iconic wildlife species such as tigers, leopards, Indian bison (gaurs), sambar deer, spotted deer, wild dogs, sloth bears, and several species of primates including the endangered lion-tailed macaques.Apart from safaris, nature walks and birdwatching excursions are also organized within the park. Visitors can witness the enchanting beauty of the forest, soak in the tranquil ambiance, and appreciate the remarkable flora and fauna that thrive in Nagarhole.

Tour Plan

Day 1

Bangalore - Bandipur ( 220 km / 5 Hrs approx )

Pick up from Bangalore and drive to Bandipur. Check into the hotel anytime after 12:30 pm. Post lunch, it’s time to go for our 1st jungle safari in the evening which starts around 3:00 p.m. After hopefully an eventful ride, we return to camp at around 06:30 p.m. and share your first safari experience while enjoying hot Tea or Coffee.

Later enjoy your dinner and retire for the night (Lunch and Dinner)

Day 2

Bandipur morning & evening jungle safari

An early morning wake-up call and coffee/tea will set the tone for the morning safari which starts around 06:30 a.m with one of our expert Naturalists/Trackers. Cutting through the freshness of the morning, you pursue the lookout for wildlife and the naturalist will use his skills to track the animals and birds using their sounds and alarm calls. After 3 to 4 hours of the lookout for animals/birds and hopefully with lots of success you are back to the resort and have breakfast, return back to the cottage and rest a bit. Lunch at 1 pm at the resort, post-lunch, it’s time to go for our 3rd jungle safari in the evening. After hopefully an eventful ride, we return to camp at around 06:30 p.m. and share your safari experience while enjoying hot Tea or Coffee.

Later enjoy your dinner and retire for the night (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Day 3

Bandipur - Kabini ( 80 Km / 2 Hrs approx )

An early morning wake-up call and coffee/tea will set the tone for the morning safari which starts around 06:30 a.m with one of our expert Naturalists/Trackers. Cutting through the freshness of the morning, you pursue the lookout for wildlife and the naturalist will use his skills to track the animals and birds using their sounds and alarm calls. Come back to the resort and have breakfast then check out at 11:30 am.

Day 4

Kabini Jungle Safari

An early morning wake-up call and coffee/tea will set the tone for the morning safari which starts around 06:30 a.m with one of our expert Naturalists/Trackers. Cutting through the freshness of the morning, you pursue the lookout for wildlife and the naturalist will use his skills to track the animals and birds using their sounds and alarm calls. After 3 to 4 hours of the lookout for animals/birds and hopefully with lots of success you are back to the resort and have breakfast, return back to the cottage and rest a bit. Lunch at 1 pm at the resort, post-lunch, it’s time to go for our 3rd jungle safari in the evening. After hopefully an eventful ride, we return to camp at around 06:30 p.m. and share your safari experience while enjoying hot Tea or Coffee.

Day 5: Kabini - Nagarhole
